After being a part of the Mission community for 18 years, Lululemon was simply looking for more space to provide an elevated shopping experience and to give the community a space to connect.
They started by freshening up a bland, exterior brick wall at its new location — 2308A 4th St. S.W. A bold, geometric mural by local artist Michelle Hoogveld lightens up the block and sets the stage for the retail extravaganza inside.

The company is run like a family business relying on a tight group of contractors, including Dang-Mitchell for interior design, David Lam of Meiga for construction and architect Steven Ho.
Other developments currently underway or planned include the Spider Block on 14th Street S.W., named after the huge spider mascot that once sat on the site of the former Mechanics Garage shop and now graces the roof of the Starbucks a little to the north.

Kinjo reinvents the Japanese Street Market

…he called on his designer and builder David Lam of Meiga Development Corp. and gave him the challenge of creating a distinctive restaurant to include a street market.
Since then he has opened five others, all designed by Lam and his architect Steven Ho, and now managed by company president Yukiko Kaizuka and vice-president Mark Wang.

A working relationship developed over the past 10 years between Certus Developments and David Lam of Meiga Developments has completed several outstanding projects. Lam has been able to save them costs by recycling materials such as wood planking, seating, and lighting from other Certus buildings that are being renovated.

Dandy, at 2003 11th St. S.E. (403-769-9399), took over a former motorcycle shop in Ramsay and has converted it into a brewery with a 50-seat restaurant/tasting room. It’s a simple space with concrete floors, three large garage doors that open to the elements and an open kitchen in one corner.
